About Us

​Founded in 2018, Wildheart Homestead is South-Central Washington's premier off-grid and primitive skills getaway. Located conveniently close to the small town of Goldendale, just minutes from the stunning Columbia River Gorge, visitors can expect a unique educational experience with hosts, Sarah Bartell and Danny Graves.

Danny is an herbalist and studies plant medicine extensively, often utilizing plant-life foraged directly from the property, or from the nearby forests, to produce an array of salves, lotions, tinctures, and wild foods. Upon request, Danny can lead herb walks and foraging talks to interested parties. His other skills include hand-forging tools, blades, and household implements on our propane forge; building farm projects such as chicken coops and goat shelters; and sharing expert insight into off-grid gardening tips for various bio-regions across the Pacific Northwest.

​​Sarah is an accomplished survivalist and taxidermy artist, who teaches hide-tanning, skinning/butchering, and wildlife tracking skills. She has been featured on Discovery Channel's Emmy-nominated television series "Naked and Afraid", surviving for extended periods in some of the harshest environments on earth. Sarah also raises and works with wolfdogs, occasionally offering meet-and-greet opportunities to visitors who are interested in learning more about wolf and domestic canine behavior and ecology.

Farming Off-Grid

Wildheart Homestead is home to an array of awesome critters, including goats, chickens, ducks, and pigs. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care to our livestock using tried and true tactics, both ancient and modern alike.

As part of our educational initiative, we offer farm tours by appointment to share our insight and show others how to raise animals for food and profit in an off-grid setting.

              Primitive Skillshare Events

Wildheart Homestead will soon be hosting skillsharing events. These will typically take place on weekends, and will only have limited space, so be sure to join our mailing list for notifications about when we host each course. Sarah will be hosting beginner and advanced tracking courses.
